Neighborhood Spotlight: Water Lantern Festival

  |     |   Lifestyle

The changing of the seasons can also mean the need for changes in your life. We all have times where we need hope, healing, encouragement and peace. Finding a way to express yourself isn’t always easy but is sometimes the key to letting go and moving on.

There is a local event not far from your home here at The Reserve that can help you free your feelings and experience the healing you may need along with a sense of community as you join others who are doing the same.

Event Details

Come and experience the magic of thousands of lanterns reflecting on the water as thousands of people celebrate life together. This event brings people from all different ages and walks of life together in one place to express their feelings.

The Water Lantern Festival is held all over the United States. On November 3 this unique experience will be held about 20 minutes from your home right here in Georgia at the Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta, Georgia.

You will be able to express your hopes and dreams, reflect on your life, heal yourself, bring peace and unity and more depending on what you choose to release on your lantern.

The lantern release will start at 7:30 pm and run for one hour or until all have had an opportunity to release their lanterns. Seeing the reflection of the light up lanterns on the water brings unity, peace, and healing amongst all those who attend.

The Festival gates open at 4:00 pm and the event runs until 9:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $25-30 for adults, kids ages 8-14 are $12 and under 7 are free (but will not include a lantern). Your ticket will provide you entry to the event, a floating lantern with a marker and drawstring bag and staff to clean up afterwards.

Food trucks will be set up during the event along with music for your enjoyment. You are allowed to bring in your own food and snacks if you wish also. No outside lanterns are allowed. The lanterns used are eco-friendly as they are made of rice paper and wood. There is staff that will clean up the lanterns after the event is over.

Come and join the thousands who will attend and celebrate your life, loss, hopes and dreams. Unity is something we strive for now more than ever and this is a great way to do so.
